If funding is secured for this project, we expect that the timeline to the rollout of the application would be as follows:
Usability testing of prototype - 2 weeks
Updating spec based on results of usability testing - 1 week
Redesign of calendar (occurs concurrently with two items above) - 3 weeks
Solicit bids to build the project - 4 weeks
Review & select winning bid - 2 weeks
Develop application - 3 months
Test application - 2 weeks
Training of Public Affairs or other support staff - 1 week
Training of & beta roll-out to 2-3 campus calendars - 1 week
General release of application - TOTAL TIMEFRAME: 29.5 weeks/6.5 months
It is critical that the project be started as soon as funding is received, if not before, as the licence for the database that the gateway website calendar is using will expire on December 31st, 2005, and a new system must be in place before then.
